ALITHIDEL

Name given to huge expanse of land that is mainly composed of hot sandy deserts, it is a geographic term rather than a reference to any particular kingdom.

Once home of the lush and ancient empire of Haradicoh, sudden and cataclysmic climatic change in the 800's LC left the land bereft of seasonal rainfalls and dried the fertile plains to desert. Nowadays, Alithidel is now littered with numerous political entities, based about clans, tribes, and small kingdoms, who generally still recognise the importance of the ancient old capital city of Kariandari.

Originally a seat of great learning, with the collapse of Haradican culture came the rise of the Eptemians, filling the trade and power vacuum, and extending concepts learned from the Haradicans.

Nowadays, Alithidel is filled with a more humble people, living in the shadow of their once great empire, various monuments and ziggurats still apparent in their hot sandy landscape that is broken by small oases and irrigated fields by the more reliable rivers.

The ancient religion of Haridicoh collapsed with that empire, and a single theological movement is dominant, based on the religious teachings of the Kitabi Malikah, composed by various prophets over the ages since their people came to terms with their harsher environment.

The native peoples of Alithidel are referred to as Alithidils, a term also encompassing thought and crafts original to them.
