BISHOP
Position of ecclesiastical authority within the Order of Omicron, that applies only to members of the College of Ministers.
Once decided only on the authority of the Emperor, successive power struggles between both the imperial court and the offices of the Holy Father, not to mention the increasing autonomy of the kingdoms themselves, have left the position of bishop decided by the respective kings, where the city's in question being represented fall within their boundaries.
However, in practice, the Order of Omicron can still exert pressure on certain members being awarded the position where kingdoms are favourable, especially through the use of temporary land grants and tax incentives, which can provide lucrative encouragement.
The one bishopric of particular note is the Bishop of Corianth, which is a formal title awarded by the Order of Omicron to all ruling Holy Fathers. However, since the reforms of Wrenis, in which he effectively abolished the position of Holy Father, the seat of the Bishop of Corianth has effectively remained vacant. |
