EIOM
The original name for the city of Corianth, Eiom was originally founded as a small trading colony by the Eptemian city of Delophis in 601 BLC. It later served as a refuge for those fleeing the constant wars in Eptemia, and was especially enlarged by playing host to thousands of refugees fleeing religious persecutions from under the Ossience Empire in 269 BLC, among them being Vaul. Eiom was traditionally under the rule of kings, who maintained rule and authority over the number of colonies it was itself able to found, although sometimes the rule was tenuous and more than war resulted from leagues of colonies seeking greater autonomy.
The last such war occurred after King Emeris took the throne from his half-brother, but even as peace was being brought again to its dominions, King Minan of Ithraya launched a surprise attack, repulsed only by the diplomacy and courage of a young Sephas and his army of Eiomites and Thos. When King Emeris turned against Sephas, he replied by assaulting the city and taking it, beginning the process of empire building that would later make him so famous.
The people of Eiom and her colonies are generally referred to as Eiomites, and they spoke a distinct Eptemian dialect. |
