EPTEMIA

Ancient civilisation that came to ascendency after the collapse of Haradicoh, its growth and expansion was generally directed by the polarised cities of Xios and Delophis, each vying for supremacy in the region, leading to repeated warring. It was one such war that left Eptemia militarily exhausted and ripe for invasion by the Ossienics in 478 BLC.

Eptemia is particularly noted for its great learning, expanding on concepts developed by the Haradicans, and developing their own, not least in the theatre, politics, and literature.

The great epic of Eptemia is the Deidecalion, a myth cycle that tells of a people, under the leadership of one Cassander, travelling across great mountain ranges and magical landscapes while the gods warred in heaven, Cassander eventually bringing his people into the plains of Eptemia, where they eventually settled after displacing the Thos, and fighting the Missillinipians to truce.

One of the most important intellectual innovations of the Eptemians, being the collective name for the people of Eptemia, was democracy. This concept was later revived in the Corianth Empire, during the time of the Broken Empire, by peasant radicals who sought greater representation in the politics of empire. Their demands were only partially met by the formation of the City Council of Corianth, and the execution of the ringleaders.

Eptemia still presents an important cultural and economic area, although it still suffers from debased currency in the form of its Eptemian Disks. Fragmented again to city-states after the collapse of the Ossienic Empire, While political uncertainties abound with regards the nearby Caranite Kingdoms, Eptemia is currently facing a serious potential threat from its more easterly neighbours, not least the semi-civilised Auctiorians and their alliance with the outwardly migrating Pamphylonian tribes.
