IRRAX
Founded by the semi-mythical Ossien in 950 BLC, Irrax grew to become the captial city of the Ithrayans, later serving still as a capital for the Ossienic Empire. When that collapsed through political weakness and revolt in 210 BLC, Irrax retained its political and economic superiority other the other cities in the now formed kingdom of Ithraya, retaining royal favour as the capital.
Famously enriched under the rule of Queen Messilda, Irrax was later besieged under the rule of King Minan by Sephas Corianthos, who after triumphing absorbed Ithraya under his own personal control, starting his calendar at year zero for the climax of his astonishing victory. As he renamed the city of Eiom to Corianth, so he also irrevocable changed the name of Irrax to Mardin.
Mardin has continued to be a city of dazzling riches during its time under the Corianth Empire, though as infamous for its corruption and factional violence as much as its trade in precious metals and gems. |
