A one-time governor of Admollan, he was given the throne of empire in 138 LC, after the reign of Emperor Ophis II, with the same stipulations that he must never found a dynasty. Polinos I was the first Emperor to retain his birth name upon the throne, rather than use an assumed one. He died of natural causes in 149 LC.
