PONTIPHAS, THE CARDINAL
The Cardinal Pontiphas was the name given for the leader of the College of Cardinals, and is the highest position in the Order of Omicron beneath that of Holy Father, effectively serving as a deputy to that position.
Unfortunately, severe factional conflict within the Order of Omicron has continued following the reforms of Wrenis, which included the dissolution of the College of Cardinals, and many of the original Cardinals have since been openly assassinated, or else have otherwise died in suspicious circumstances. Only a few are known to have died from the lone effects old age.
The only figure from the College of Cardinals still remaining alive and respected and imbued with any form of power is the old and last Cardinal Pontiphas, being Nedianis Amoranis Lysimios, who has always held a special place in the heart of the people who serve in the Order of Omicron, many of whom hope somehow to overcome the legal precedent set by Wrenis to rebuild the Order of Omicron about this figure.
The influence of Nedianis upon the Order of Omicron is powerful and cannot be underestimated, so much so that Lord Rynell can now only maintain his unifying hold on the Order of Omicron by wearing the Ring of Authority, given by Cardinal Pontiphas, thus claiming to speak for the man.
However, no one has officially seen Nedianis for almost five years, leading to rife speculation and rumour that Rynell has murdered his adoptive father in order to claim power for himself, rather than simply protecting the man in hiding. |
