RELIGION
There is only one official religion for the Corianth Empire, being the Order of Omicron, which subscribes to the notion that Iescu was both God and the Son of God, made manifest in Gallerea, during the time of its occupation by the Ossienic Empire.
The Order of Omicron was originally founded as the Church of Omicron by Vaul, after fleeing the religious persecutions of the Ossienic Empire, when a single monotheistic faith was decreed for all. When Sephas founded the Corianth Empire, he re-invented it as the Order of Omicron, creating an ecclesiastical hierarchy for administration of the theological bias of his rapidly expanding empire.
There are a number of doctrines regarding Iescu, not least the Ithrayan Doctrine, composed by Saint Farash, which is rejected as heresy by the Order of Omicron. There are also a number of smaller ones present in Eptemia, although polytheism is the norm there.
While Emperor Sephis I ruled, he was greatly tolerant to the pagan worships of the Thos tribes-people, who had helped him greatly to his victories. However, when Polithos came to the throne in 76 LC he began a major series of persecutions of so-called heresies and witchcrafts within the bounds of the Corianth Empire, later taking his harsh and fanatical ideologies abroad to Eptemia and Alithidel during a series of crusades that eventually collapsed.
The Eptemians, for their part, still hold onto their ancient worships, most notably of hearth and home and ancestral worship, though the larger pantheon of deities, including Manora, Saturnyne, and Pheiros, are credited with little power in the world of humanity and serve mostly as ceremonial figures rather than actual objects of veneration in official functions.
In Alithidel a series of home-bred prophets, who arose after the destruction of their great civilisation of Haradicoh, are accepted as divine, with their collective phrases writ down in the venerated Kitabi Malikah. |
