SEPHAS
The original first name of the founder of the Corianth Empire, Sephas Ophis Corianthos was born into the lesser nobility near a town called Phisadel, originally founded by his grandfather.
Sephas later marched out with a small but combined army from the various settlements under the control of the then city of Eiom against a massed force from Ithraya. Eventually victorious, he was later scandalised by unfounded rumours of his collaborating with the enemy, a suggestion made by the defeated Ithrayans themselves, in an attempt to weaken the standing of Eiom's military hero.
Exiled from Eiom's territory by King Emeris while still with his men, Sephas then turned his army against the city of Eiom itself, defeating it in the Siege of Eiom and slaying his former king. After reconsolidating the allegiances of Eiom's former cities, and drawing better together his Thos allies, Sephas then directed thoughts to preparations for another attack by the forces of Ithraya. Sephas conducted a daring military campaign into the heartland of Ithraya itself, eventually defeating the ruler King Minan at Irrax.
Consolidating his gains, Sephas then set into motion the design of an empire upon the lands he had won, not only by battle, but also through diplomacy, ascending the throne of his own making by taking the name Sephis I. |
