THOS
Name of a people who existed as twelve distinct tribes, they existed outside of Eiomite society until the time of Sephas, who coerced them to become his allies. Led by Thane Orrin, the Thos achieved a series of great victories under the leadership of Sephas. Later agreeing to his dominion over their lands as the Corianth Empire expanded, a number of Thos rebelled behind one Storm Anulf, who was quickly defeated in battle.
The real power behind Thos society lay with their priesthood, a connection that transcended all political and tribal boundaries, and the later Emperor Sephis I was careful to respect that, even though many of them outright supported him, some of which converted to the Order of Omicron in later times, individuals even becoming Holy Fathers.
They were effectively destroyed as a people by Emperor Polithos, who erased their identity as best he could through forced movements and general oppression, branding them as heretics. Some sense of Thos culture has filtered through the centuries since, though never as a public and separate entity. In fact, Ulric, one of the main characters, carries a Thos totem designation in his full name of Ulric Silverwolf. |
